Mallory Square 6
Pennecamp 7
The game with
Pennecamp took extra
innings to resolve
with the team from
Mallory Square
coming up short this
week. After scoring
4 runs in the top of
the 7th to go ahead
6 to 4 and getting
the first two
batters out in the
bottom of the inning
Pennecamp scored 2
runs to tie the
game. In the extra
inning,
unfortunately the
top of the order
went down 1-2-3 and
the opponents scored
the go ahead run at
their turn at bat.
Hitting leader for
the day was Tony
Chiorazzi going 3
for 3. John
Phillips, Mike
Burns, Bill Imhoff,
and Nick Tuzio all
went 2 for 3. Larry
Thomas led the RBI
category with 3 and
Tony Chiorazzi led
the runs scored with
2.

Square 7
In a come from behind
effort, Mallory Square
won it’s 4th game of the
season. Trailing 6 to 2
in the bottom of the
6th, the team put up 5
runs on consecutive
singles by Bill Lenover,
John Phillips, Jack
Gaza, Robert Taylor, a
base on balls to Larry
Thomas and a 2 run
scoring single by Fred
Bussa. Ashland went
down 1-2-3 in the top of
the 7th. Jack Gaza led

Mallory Square 2
Bellaire 1
The team was able to
squeak out another
victory, making it 3 in
a row for the season.
Mallory put the first
run of game on the board
in the top of the 5th
inning. Successive
singles by John
Phillips, Fred Bussa,
Bill Lenover, and Larry
Thomas gave our team the
go ahead run. In the 6th
inning, after some
creative base running by
Tony Chiorazzi, a single
by Jack Gaza, and a
sacrifice fly by Jim
Wegner an insurance run
was scored. Belleaire
managed to score 1 run
in the bottom of the 7th
and gave us a scare
after loading the bases
with 2 outs, but it
wasn’t enough and we
came away with the win.

Hadley 4 Mallory Square
5
In an exciting finish to
what had been a
lackluster game, the
Mallory Square team
pulled out a come from
behind victory in extra
innings. Trailing 4 to 2
in the bottom of the
7th, singles by Jim
Wegner, John Phillips, &
Bill Lenover loaded the
bases. After a fielders
choice hit by Larry
Thomas that scored 1
run, Fred Bussa hit a
run scoring single that
tied the game after
which the side was
retired. Hadley came to
bat in the top of the
8th, but was unable to
get run after a fine
defensive effort. In the
bottom of the 8th with
Jim Rogers on second,
Robert Taylor walked,
Tony Chiorazzi hit a
sacrifice fly to move
the winning run to
third. After a routine
infield put out, Bill
Imhoff game to the plate
with 2 outs and runners
on second and third, a
hard hit line drive
single to right field
scored the run and the
game was over. This
brought the season’s
record to 2 wins 0
losses.

Anyone who would like to play the next
season should
get evaluated. The evaluations take place at the new
softball complex Buffalo Glen behind the Villages
High School every
Tuesday starting at 7:30 A.M.
Before anyone can play they
must be evaluated. They must make 3
sessions before being placed on a team. The
neighborhood Leagues are not as competitive as the Recreation
leagues which play during the weekdays. |
